The goal of this programme is to strengthen the Albanian Parliament’s capacity - legislative, representative and oversight - to more effectively exercise its important role in shaping and influencing the European integration process, particularly in ensuring that Albania fulfills the EU criteria for Justice and Home Affairs; influencing and shaping the public debate on EU integration, both within Albania and beyond its borders.
The project has two components: parliamentary and public awareness. Programme activities include:
Parliamentary component: in-country roundtables, consultations, working visits to the Latvian/Slovenian Parliaments.
Public awareness component: NGO platform meetings, Europe Day celebration, media monitoring.
Participants include Members of the Albanian Parliament, representatives of Albanian civil society organizations, Dutch and other international experts.
The programme is being implemented by the EWPPP in cooperation with its local partner, the Albanian Centre for Human Rights (ACHR), in cooperation with the Albanian Parliament, and is funded by the Matra programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
